So Cute But So Sad

This afternoon I asked Donnie to change Maddie's diaper. So he took her up to her room and when they came back downstairs Maddie had her nighttime medicine in one hand and the syringe in the other. I asked why she had her medicine and Donnie told me to watch her. She proceeded to flip the cap back and try to put the syringe into the opening. She then put the syringe in her mouth. Donnie is right it is cute but at the moment I saw this my heart broke a little. No little girl should be so use to taking meds that she can just about give them to herself.

Mommy, Daughter Snack

A few weeks ago I went to The Gage's home for a ladies movie night. Everyone was suppose to bring a snack to share. Someone brought popcorn with Ranch flavoring...I was hooked (apparently its a healthy snack:) Donnie went and picked up some Nacho cheese flavoring (with only 2 calories!!) and I started having popcorn with my flavoring. Maddie soon discovered what mommy was having and decided it was yummy. So now when I have popcorn I pop it, flavor it, put it in the bowl and have a seat on the floor within seconds I have company (although she AlWAYS steals the bowl).

Donnie thinks it's so cute the way she takes huge handfuls!

Sending our angel to wish you a....

Cutest picture of the day!

Maddie fell asleep for her nap in our bed and Donnie decided to join her. I went up to see how they were doing and this is how they were laying. I thought it was just to cute!

The big bad step stool

Maddie had one heck of a week last week. It started with the stomach flu. I was introduced to a daughter I had never seen....one that just laid on the sofa all day. While it was difficult and heartbreaking to see her so sick it didn't compare at all to the end of our week.
We had gone to Target and bought Maddie a step stool so she could start washing her hands and face and brushing her teeth. I never imagined that she would love the step stool so much! As some of you know our laundry area is in our downstairs bathroom. On Saturday I went in to do some laundry, with Maddie following behind me. In the back of my mind I heard "she's going to get on the stool and fall" and I thought "she'll be fine" I no more than thought that and I heard a horrible crash! Maddie was on the floor screaming! As soon as I picked her up I noticed that her head was all ready bruising and had a HUGE goose egg. I of course started crying. I called my mom to see if she could come check it out and she told me to go ahead and call the advice nurse. (Side note: I'm pretty sure they are going to ban me from calling them as I have called them about 6 times during this week) While I waiting for the nurse to call back I called Donnie and left him a message that he should fire me as mommy. I couldn't believe that I ignored my gut when it came to Maddie's safety. By the time the nurse called back I had calmed down. Maddie was back to dancing to "Yo Gabba Gabba" so I was sure she was OK. The nurse did advice me to wake her every four hours that night to make sure that she was truly OK and not to give her anything for the pain as it might mask the symptoms.
Fast froward to 2:30 am Maddie wakes screaming. I get her back to sleep and she wakes again screaming. This went on until 4:30 and I once again called the advice nurse. She informed us that we needed to take Maddie in to the E.R since this was not normal behavior for her. We took her up to Legacy in Salmon Creek (stinks that there is a hospital 5 minutes from home but we wont use them because of how they handled Maddie in their E.R when she was a few days old..but that's another story) We were relieved to see the waiting room empty. Apparently Maddie timed this just right because a few hours earlier the waiting room was full. The doctor wanted to do a cat-scan just to be on the safe side. they had to strap Maddie to the table of course she got her arms out...you couldn't keep her swaddled as an infant what made us think this would work. So she held my hands during the scan...and screamed. Happily everything came back OK and the doctor told us we could give her kids Motrin...which has helped her a bunch! But can you believe that once we got home Maddie didn't go back to sleep!!! She stayed up until 1 that afternoon when she finally decided she would take a nap.

A few days after the fall...she wouldn't let me get a good picture.

Maddie's reminder of her trip to the E.R.

We now keep the step stool up when we are not using it and the best news Donnie isn't going to fire me as Mommy! I get to keep my job!
